WAID ACADEMY JOINS CTH

S5 & S6 from Waid Academy are joining us for the next few months for an Insight to Construction.
The pupils will get a basic insight to Trades, safe use and handling of Tools and Power Tools, they will also have the opportunity to be a part of Community Project of restoring benches for Leven High Street.

CTH HUB REFURBISHMENT

Our clients have been helping with some refurbishments to the workshop by building extra workstations. Giving individuals the opportunity to gain experience with woodwork and the safe use and handling of the tools involved. The extra bays will be a great addition to the workshop.

ACROSS THE WATER TEAMBUILDING

Some of our clients had the opportunity to represent Community Trade Hub back in September 19, joining Fife Council’s Rising Stars programme on their trip to Poland.  During their trip, they took part in team building activities, educational day trip and learnt life skills to help them on their career path journey.
This was a fantastic opportunity to experience different cultures and taste new foods including the famous Torun gingerbread. The trainees enjoyed their time in Poland.

CTH DELIVERS INSIGHT TO CONSTRUCTION TO LEVENMOUTH ACADEMY

In the Hubs set up process we connected with many services within the Levenmouth Community. Part of our main objective and project goals was to link into education, training and youth development. It was clear from our initial meetings with the school leadership team that our project was a massive fit to the schools curriculum activities.
So we had a shared value that partnership working in the community was key and a programme needed to be developed.

In the initial stages of CTH it was identified and alarming on the numbers of referrals coming from kids that should be at school.

We had such a success on our pilot programmes to support these pupils that the Local Head Teacher could not believe the impact and change in the pupils manners, behaviour, skills and was overwhelmed to see these kids move onto a positive destination.

It was a shared approach that we needed to engage with pupils earlier on in their school life to give them that invaluable experience of being in a work environment to build on practical skills, identify a trade, develop life skills and engage with community key elements.

We are now collaborating with Levenmouth Academy and delivering our Insight to Construction programme to pupils.  The programme has been developed using our training platform but has been adapted to also support pupils academic learning.

So far this has proven successful with our S3 pupils.

This programme has also been adapted to support the Department of Additional Support (DAS) Unit at Levenmouth Academy, giving everyone an equal opportunity for their future.

CTH TEAMS WITH FOUNDATION APPRENTICESHIPS

CTH has teamed with Foundation Apprenticeships to support pupils who do not have the required Nat 5 grade to apply for a Modern Apprenticeship.

We are providing support on a vocational route to help pupils gain an equivalent grade which opens the doors for MA.

Without this support the pupils would not have this opportunity.

SUMMER 2019

We held a Summer Camp in 2019 where 14 to 18 year olds developed practical skills, enjoyed educational days out, and team building activities. This was a great opportunity for the young people to learn new skills and to meet new people from their community.
As part of the the activities held during the summer camp, we collaborated with Methil Sea & Royal Marine Cadets. This exercise was put in place to give the youths an insight in to what the Sea & Royal Marine Cadets do on a regular basis. In addition, they learnt about the skills needed to complete challenging scenarios they may face.
The young people also enjoyed team activities such as tiling, plastering, woodwork and our summer camp out at Wemyss Firs. It was a fantastic two weeks and a pleasure working with the Summer Group.  One of them is now a member of Methil Sea Cadets, whilst others that took part returned to the hub to start their career journey

FROM FRANCE TO BUCKHAVEN

What a way to finish up the week with a fantastic visit from our friends from France twinning association.
They were a joy to spend time with and we can't wait to see them today before they head off home.
Hopefully our Poland team will be able to join us to meet our French friends. What a week of cultural experience for the CTH team.

LOCAL ARTIST CAPTURES THE HUB IN ONE PIECE

Check out CTH'S new front of building mural, designed and painted by the fantastic Andrew Parry.
We think Andy has done an outstanding job of capturing CTH.

THE HUB GAINS NEW TRAINING ROOM

Our new purpose built training room is taking shape, with thanks to our recent group who had the opportunity to experience hands-on in assisting with the plastering and painting.
